About Dr. Alissa Kuizinas: My story

Alissa Kuizinas

Hi there! I'm Dr. Alissa Kuizinas.

I am a board certified podiatrist from who’s passionate about foot health. I absolutely love seeing my patients transform their feet without surgery or invasive procedures!

I started Doctor Ark as a place for you to learn about your feet, find the tools you need to restore your feet, and the support to get you where you want to be! Whether you want to eliminate pain, get stronger, more flexible, or simply feel better in shoes, I am happy to help you achieve those goals!

Podiatry has traditionally relied heavily on treatments such as orthotics, injections, and surgery. While these can all be helpful in certain cases, the vast majority of foot pain is caused by foot dysfunction. After several years in private practice, I realized there was a serious need for education and programs to help people reverse foot dysfunction. We simply are not doing enough during a 10-15 minute office visit to help people truly get better.

What is foot dysfunction?

Foot dysfunction refers to the gradual deterioration and structural adaptation of the human foot over time. Due to modern footwear, lifestyle habits, and lack of exposure to exercise and natural surfaces, our feet experience changes throughout our lives.

These changes are what eventually lead our feet to be less efficient, more weak, and prone to deformities such as bunions, arthritis, and painful conditions such as plantar fasciitis.

Our feet have an amazing capacity for change

No matter what state you currently find your feet in, there are natural, noninvasive ways to improve them.

My treatment plans involve increasing sensory input and stimulation, drills and exercises to strengthen feet, and lifestyle modifications to remove the underlying cause of the dysfunction. In fact, changes in footwear make a huge difference when it comes to restoring your feet!

What is natural footwear?

Natural footwear is an emerging category of shoes on the cutting edge of footwear science. Natural footwear takes into consideration the anatomic shape of the human foot, along with natural movement patterns.

Essentially, natural footwear eliminates the bulky, expensive ‘technology’ that ruins our feet in the first place. It works with our feet to allow them to regain strength, move efficiently, and eliminate excessive weight and bulk
